Teenagers nowadays always have something to say about the trends in fashion as the seasons change. Many teenagers receive inspiration on the way they dress by watching what their favorite celebrities are wearing or where they purchase most of their clothing. High schoolers also believe that they are at the age where they should be able to express themselves by the way they choose to dress. Common causes against the use of school uniforms by public high school students are that “teens are not fans of repeating the same outfit every day “ (McKenna) . There are many different types of way to help switch up the routinely outfit , but not in all situations will teens have a say in what they can and can not wear. That is why public high school students in the United States should be required to wear uniforms to help improve the school environment and prepare for future jobs in the workplace.

High school is a time filled with teenagers trying to figure out who they are and how they would like to express themselves by they way the act and dress. Some students may feel jealous or annoyed with other students because they have a fancier branded pair of shoes than they do. That is where the term bullying comes into play. As silly as the thought of two sophomore boys squabbling about who has the nicest pair of shoes sounds, this is a daily occurrence at a Cleveland area high school. Ken Trump has been working as a school safety consultant for years and explains how this is a daily conversation that is held in his office. “ Kids are trying so hard to one-up each other on everything from hairstyles to shoes. Uniforms can help take away the daily fashion show and help level the playing field a little bit with the haves and have-nots” (Toopo). That is also why many schools require a solid color shoe with little to none of the brand name showing. The uniform does not have to include a tie and blazer. It should look professional , but appropriate to the school setting. With the use of uniforms children will be able to focus on other things besides what type of shoe they have on ,such as their education.

School uniforms have many positives when being worn in a school setting. Uniforms are useful in the classroom because if all the students are wearing similar pieces of clothing there are less small talk conversations going around in the classroom. A list found in a recent article : Top 10 Reasons School Uniforms Should Be Mandatory “ Uniforms enable students to concentrate on studies rather than clothes” was the third reason why uniforms should be required in public high schools. Principals play an important rule when it comes to picking a certain dress code for their students. Principals around the united states are pro uniform because “ They tend to bond nicely with their peers and can create an environment where they could learn more effectively in a group” ( Listland). Working effectively in any type of group is a skill that is used in schools and in many professional jobs. By working effectively in school with their peers students will be able to create strategies that will help them learn in the workplace.

No matter what type of job either full time or part time will require an individual to wear some sort of uniform. A uniform found in the workplace can be as simple as a tee shirt with a the company's logo and a pair of jeans to a pair of scrubs. The term uniform is not only common in the workplace. A uniform could also be a set of guidelines or rules that state how you should dress for a certain event. People do not attend weddings or formal events in clothing that they would wear to the gym . Belinda Luscombe is an editor at TIME magazine who produced an article to prove a point on how uniforms are used in a daily basis not only in a school setting. “ What do bridesmaids , military personnel , and emergency service workers have in common? They all have to wear what they’re given without whining, no matter how puffy the sleeves or hideous the shoes (Luscombe). Today you see many stores known because of their uniform. Target is iconic because of the red shirt and khaki colored pants. Many large companies and business do not make changes in their uniforms because one store out of thousands does not like the color of the pants. By growing up with the feel of what uniforms are actually there for can help prepare a student mentally for what is to come in the future.

Allowing uniforms in public high schools across america teenagers will acquire multiple skills and strategies that will help them grow in the future. While wearing uniforms in school teens have less topics to bully one another. No bullying would increase children to focus more on their school work and help grow closer connections with their peers. The strategies of working effectively and efficiently with your peers at a young age will help create stronger bonds in the future when working in groups. Almost every job today requires you to work with another individual. By working effectively together the job will be done quicker and show close results. The earlier a teenager starts realizing the importance of how they dress can affect how they act is a helpful life tip that will help them grow in the future.
